“In my daily life, I often catch glimpses of things that sometimes spark a feeling. For me painting is about just remembering those glimpses, or facing them head on and attempting to paint whatever that initial spark was; sometimes I don’t even know what’s there if anything at all. There isn’t necessarily a name for it. On a good day, I can feel the dots connecting to the initial spark—if I can let go and let something deep down inside me take over it’s very powerful. It doesn’t always happen but just getting out there and doing it is great practice. Sometimes I get lucky.”
