THIS MONTH'S FEATURED ARTIST
Janet Iffland
Award winning artist Janet Iffland is known for her rural landscape paintings in oil and acrylic. She is drawn to the New England landscape and paints on location as well as from photos in her studio. In her paintings she hopes to bring to you the lights and shadows of color reflected in nature. She is drawn to her subject by the light cast upon the object.
Janet grew up in Northwest Connecticut and is fortunate to be surrounded by the beautiful farms, rural landscape and shoreline that are part of her paintings. She is mainly a self-taught artist and has studied with award winning artists. Janet also paints home portraits and other commissioned requests, as well as giving private lessons.
“The HILLS” Magazine front cover displayed her painting “Shadows on the Wall” in its Summer 2015 edition. A painting was created for the Sandy Hook Elementary School and is displayed in the school’s main entrance. Her paintings may currently be seen at Center Framing & Art Gallery in West Harford and The White Gallery in Lakeville. She also displays her work in many art shows including Trinity Gallery at Limerock, the Kent Art Association in Kent and the Roxbury Art Show in Roxbury.
