The Way I See It: Pastels

Artist Carol Moore: “The Way I See It” – Pastels

October 20 – December 26
Opening Reception: Thursday, October 23 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Carol Moore grew up in the Milton section of Litchfield and has so many visual memories of an idyllic childhood. She is part of a family of eleven and her father worked in a factory to provide for them all. It was always known that she would go to work after high school – even though she had always seen herself standing in front of an easel…it just wasn’t in the cards.

“I worked, fell in love, and married and was blessed with three children. This was my life until our family suffered a tragedy and because of that tragedy I reassessed my life. In order to heal, I had to take care of me.”

At fifty Carol enrolled as a college freshman in a Community College and had her very first art classes. It was a bit scary but wonderful for her to finally be standing in front of that easel. She continued her education until she earned her masters degree in art and physiology. The whole experience gave her the fulfillment she craved. She has been an artist and potter ever since.

“I paint mostly in Pastels but often find myself with oils, acrylics and other media. And because I started so late in my art career, I’ve always jumped in and created what I wanted or was called to paint. I’ve painted my memories when on trips, I paint the seasonal jewels of landscapes that Northwest Connecticut offers and all the unexpected sites I see. I am drawn to landscapes, old factories, cityscapes and florals.”
