Happening in the Hills, publisher of Litchfield and Dutchess Magazines is looking for talented, locally-minded creatives to join our team on a part-time basis. We’re currently seeking a Features Editor, and Social Media Manager to help us share the people, places, and stories that make our region special.

If you have a strong editorial eye, a love for community storytelling, are highly organized, detail oriented, and have a knack for digital engagement, we’d love to hear from you.

Position Details

Features Editor

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, assign, and edit feature stories for both magazines.
  • Work with writers and photographers to shape compelling narratives.
  • Maintain editorial calendars and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with publisher and art director on story ideas and angles.

Requirements:

  • At least two years proven editorial experience (magazine or newspaper preferred).
  • Excellent writing, line editing, and story development skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Interest in lifestyle, design, food, and regional culture.

Social Media Manager 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and TikTok accounts for both magazines.
  • Plan and schedule posts aligned with editorial content and brand tone.
  • Write engaging captions and select high-quality images.
  • Track analytics and grow engagement with followers.
  • Collaborate with editorial team on content promotion and brand storytelling.

Requirements:

  • Two years experience managing professional social media accounts.
  • Strong writing and visual sense.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Litchfield and Dutchess County communities necessary.
  • Creative, dependable, and able to work within brand guidelines.
