Holiday Pop-Up Market

The David M. Hunt Library will host its annual Holiday Pop Up Market from late November until early January 2025. Local artisans include Under Mountain Botanicals, Beading by Molly, handmade spoons from Andy Jack, ornaments and cats made by Nunwell Glass, Bosco’s Best Jams, Saw Mill Maple Syrup, textiles by Meg Musgrove, candles and cards from Rika Laser, pottery by Diane Schapira, and ornaments, toys and textiles made by Gail Allyn. A portion of the proceeds benefit the library. The library’s book sale is available for shopping whenever the library is open.

Free Community Yoga

Charym Yoga Studio in Litchfield is introducing FREE Community Yoga, now weekly on Monday evenings at 5pm.

If you’ve been curious about yoga but haven’t yet tried a class, come join us at Charym for our new FREE beginner-friendly class, led by John Dezzutti.

This class is for both the young, and not so young, designed to help you release aches and pains while building strength and flexibility. Whether you’re new to yoga or looking for a gentle practice, this class offers a sequence of basic postures that stretch and strengthen the body. The flow is moderately paced, allowing you to move with ease while focusing on proper alignment and mindfulness. Each posture is taught with an emphasis on safety and awareness, helping you feel more grounded, centered, and stronger with each class. Come as you are and experience the benefits of yoga in a supportive, welcoming environment.

The Thin Man

Join Boondocks Film Society on Saturday, December 14th, as they host a holiday happy hour and screening of the 1934 black-and-white classic THE THIN MAN at The Colonial Theatre in North Canaan, CT. The sure-to-be-festive pre-film happy hour will feature live ‘30s-era jazz by The Orson Handel Trio, as well as film-inspired craft cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Kick off the holiday season with a sophisticated yet very spirited evening of music, film and rip-roaring laughs! Colonial Theatre, 27 Railroad St., North Canaan CT. Art Show Opening: “The Space Between”

The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens is pleased to welcome our last art exhibit of the 2024 season featuring works of eight alumni and three faculty from Western Connecticut State University’s MFA program. The exhibit, “The Space Between” will be on view beginning Friday, December 6. An opening reception will be held at the park on Saturday, December 7 from 3 to 6 p.m.

This exhibition includes a range of work and highlights a diversity of artistic approaches to abstraction, realism, and sculptural form.

Wreath Making

Join us for a wreath making workshop and learn to build and decorate a beautiful holiday wreath from scratch! Grab a friend or family member(s) and enjoy a morning or an afternoon session together taking a hike to gather evergreens. We supply a 12-inch metal frame, various greens and decorations like pine cones and ornaments, as well natural dried flowers to select from and use in your wreath. Everyone will make their own wreath to take home or give as a gift! Pre-registration requested. Some spots are still available.
