Tilden Seafood

Since there aren’t too many seafood markets in the region, make sure to get there early as selections are limited as the day goes on. The clambake bags are fun and include everything you need tied up in a bag for boiling a traditional New England-style clambake. Fresh seafood, special orders and catering. Their meat store is conveniently located next door if you are planning a surf and turf.

The Village Restaurant

West Street Grill

A Litchfield staple—West Street Grill has been credited with revitalizing the Litchfield Green after opening in 1990. Elegant vibe, impressive food and service. A modern restaurant with a cozy but sophisticated dining room, West Street has the charm of a private club but attracts a broad demographic.

Harney & Sons Fine Teas

The reward for completing that bike ride—the most delectable PB&J ever. We don’t know if it’s the jam or excellent bread, but these things are tasty! There’s also something slightly mischievous about having a “kid’s” sandwich in the casually elegant surroundings of a tearoom. Speaking of… you know the name, but did you realize that the quality brand was based here? A food lover’s stop, the Harney & Sons Fine Tea boutique offers all manner of hostess and entertaining gifts, and the expansive tasting bar can answer all your burning leaf questions.

Manna Dew Café

The largely organic offerings may taste like the big city but the laidback atmosphere at Manna Dew Café is decidedly small town, in the best of ways. No one will rush you out the door here. Linger over a glass of wine, take in some music if it’s the weekend or sit out back near the herb garden when the sun is shining. Good vibe, great down-to-earth food.

Popey’s Ice Cream

A best kept secret among the locals, complete with swinging picnic tables outside and a no-frills interior café-style dinning space. It is a wonderful place to enjoy simple food (yummy ice cream as well as hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and onion rings), in a casual setting. It does get crowded on weekends.

Clamps

Clamps is a roadside burger joint that was established in 1939 (little has changed since, other than SUVs barreling past) that cooks up a plethora of authentic and regional summertime food. Try the scrumptious burgers with fried onions. Quick and friendly service, outdoor seating but also great for roadside pick up! A classic staple that would be a shame to miss.

Upper Crust Cucina

The prosciutto and fig pizza; roasted eggplant pizza; and the goat cheese and spinach ravioli are some of our favorite dishes at the Northern Italian style family restaurant. Pasta is house-made; they also have gluten-free pizza. Catering and private parties. Take out is available.
