Opened in 2004, the Whiting Mills building is home to a variety of artists, craftspeople, retail shops, small manufacturing companies, and a center for artistic, community, and social events. It’s a great place to meet artists. You can commission unique pieces in a wide variety of media including furniture, drapes, weaving, jewelry, pottery, photography, paintings and original art. The performing arts hall of The Hotchkiss School was designed by and completed in 2005. With views of Lakeville’s Lake Wononscupomuc, the hall is home to the Hotchkiss Concert Series, hosting free classical concerts September through May. Guest artists have included The Fine Arts Quartet, Amerigo Trio, Nordic Voices, The Hartt Symphony Orchestra, and Midori. The hall is also home to Hotchkiss Summer Portals concerts, once again free and open to the public during June and July. Past guests have included Melvin Chen, Miró Quartet, Brentano Quartet, Ida Kavafian, and the Ying Quartet. This is a fabulous venue and the concerts are spectacular.
