Old Riverton Inn

Overlooking the Farmington River and only minutes from the Peoples State Forest, the Old Riverton Inn was opened in 1796 by Jess Ives.  Originally known as Ives Tavern or Ives Hotel, the Inn provided a resting place for stagecoach drivers and their passengers along the route between Hartford and Albany.

Pratt Nature Center

This 205-acre wildlife preserve and environmental education center ensures campers have fun and experience hands-on opportunities from hiking in the meadows to observing animals. The outdoor classroom includes 250 acres of woodlands, farmland, meadows, and ponds.

The Connecticut Summer Opera Foundation

This new foundation is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to advancing the careers of conservatory-trained operatic vocalists by offering a summer residency in vocal performance in the beautiful Litchfield Hills. Their Litchfield Hills Food, Wine and Opera Gala-A Musical Feast! was a huge success this summer, so we are looking forward to next summer’s repeat performance.

House of Books

This independent indie bookstore has been a Kent literary landmark since the 1970’s. House of Books offers best sellers, fiction, non-fiction, classics, local area interest books, independently published titles, works by local authors and a children’s section. Additionally, this bookshop also plays host to a number of author book talks and signings and a monthly book club.
