Strut Your Mutt Summer Social

Strut Your Mutt! The Strut Your Mutt Summer Social will take place on Sunday, August 24, in Washington Depot. Last year, over 70 dogs and their humans attended to participate in an all-for-fun Agility Course, Beauty Contest, and other family-friendly activities supported by the community businesses of Litchfield County. This year’s event promises to be even more enjoyable and engaging!

Art Workshop: The Gardener’s Herbarium: Mounting and Crafting with Dried Flowers

Discover the beauty and versatility of working with pressed flowers and plants in this open-format crafting workshop. Create traditional or modern herbarium mounts on acid-free paper, ready for framing. Explore simple decoupage techniques for crafting glass candle lights, note cards and tags, each adorned with pressed blooms. If you joined us for our flower pressing class in May- or if you’ve been pressing plants at home- bring your dried botanicals and come explore creative ways to use them. No pressed plants? No problem. We will have plenty of extra dried materials on hand! This is a relaxed, hands-on workshop where you can play with beautiful materials, try out new ideas, and enjoy the pleasure of making something by hand. You’ll leave with several finished pieces and lots of inspiration to keep creating.

Lisa Zurles is Hollister House Garden’s education manager, a native plant enthusiast and a Connecticut Master Woodland Manager. She learned to press plants at the Native Plant Trust, where she studied botany and horticulture as part of their Native Plant Studies Certificate program. She loves sharing the joy of plants and the myriad way plants and flowers enrich our lives.

The Gardener’s Herbarium: Mounting and Crafting with Dried Flowers

Dismembered, by Bismuth Arsenide

=Bismuth is a Boston-based artist known for her self-portrait photographs. Her work explores and challenges ideas surrounding identity and its fragile nature, politics and trans expression through a satirical and spontaneous approach.

Recently, Bismuth has taken up oil painting as her primary medium, in which she creates numeric and interactive landscapes.

Dismembered, showing at Peggy Mercury, will be her debut solo exhibit and will showcase her self-portrait images alongside painted works. Co-curated with James Boehmer and Gregory Fricke, the show will display Bismuth’s current fascination with fragmentation and isolation, and so much more.

Please join us Friday, August 8th from 4-6 Pm for an opening reception with the artist.

Bantam Lake Ski Show

Every year the Bantam Lake Ski Club comes together to put on an awe inspiring Cyprus Gardens style ski show.  You’ll see pyramids, ballet lines, boat O’s, jumping, mixed doubles, barefooting, trick skiing, wake boarding, surfing, kids lines and more! Hundreds of hours of hard work goes into putting on the show and the funds raised go towards supporting the club.

The Last Illusion

Acclaimed magician Belinda Sinclair performs her interactive and captivating sleight of hand, fusing allegory with historical stories about the life and art of magic and its female masters.
The 90 minute journey is an uplifting expose on how they convinced the world that miracles were plausible.

Connecting with Balance – Rooted in 50 years of creative movement expertise, Connecting with Balance® draws on Pilobolus’s unique approach to help older adults move better, feel steadier, and live more fully—no dance experience needed!

Alphabet Workshop – Kids ages 6-12 and their parents/guardians are invited to dive into movement and storytelling in our interactive workshop designed to explore the magic of letters, shapes, and bodies in motion. (Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.)

Pilobolus Dance Workshop – Participants aged 13 to 113 are invited to expand their movement vocabulary together through improvisation and collaborative trust-building. This inclusive intergenerational workshop is designed to break barriers and build community.
