Barn Talk: Horticultural Heretic

Saturday, October 4th 10-11:30am
Barn Talk: Horticultural Heretic- Book Launch and Signing

Join Hollister House Garden founder and President, George Schoellkopf, for a high-spirited horticultural adventure as he reads from his new book, Horticultural Heretic.

Inspired by classic English gardens but shaped by the challenges of northwest Connecticut, Hollister House Garden is the result of George’s creative vision- and his rebellious approach to gardening. In Horticultural Heretic, he shares his unconventional wisdom along with the tricks and methods that helped him break the rules and cultivate a truly original garden. The book is a mine of useful information on the art and craft of gardening, as gleaned from over forty years of hands-on experience.

Expect an engaging reading and the chance to ask questions about gardening, creativity, and breaking the rules. Books will be for sale and the author will be signing copies for attendees.

This is a free event, but pre-registration is required.

Horticultural Heretic- Book Launch and Signing

INLINE by Renaud Charrin

INLINE by Renaud Charrin
Exhibition Dates: September 27 – November 2, 2025
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 27, 5–7 PM

Peggy Mercury is pleased to present INLINE, a new installation by French-American artist Renaud Charrin. The exhibition will be on view from September 27 through November 2, 2025.

INLINE features large, wall-based works that transform everyday materials into dynamic compositions of tension and release. Using mounted rods of clear plexiglass and ropes stretched across vivid color fields, Charrin reimagines their function. These familiar objects shift into new roles—becoming landscapes of rhythm, restraint, and possibility. Like lines drawn in space, the works guide the eye across invisible axes, where symmetry falters and energy surges. Though anchored in place, the pieces appear charged with motion, as if poised to shift at any moment.

Charrin’s practice spans painting, collage, sculpture, and installation. After early experiments with abstract painting on stretched kilim rugs, his work evolved into collages, brass reliefs, and kinetic boxes, culminating in immersive projects such as his Inline Series created in his Connecticut barn. Known for fusing rigor with play, he reinvents familiar forms in unexpected ways, as seen in his Chair Series and Curbside Series.

Charrin’s career includes solo exhibitions at Galerie Mourlot in New York City and Fundación de Artistas in Mérida, Mexico. His work has been featured internationally, including at Miami Art Basel and the Parsons Alumni Exhibition. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Charrin worked in advertising and design before dedicating himself fully to art in 2008. He now lives and works between Northwest Connecticut, New York, and Paris.

Renaud Charrin will also be featured in NEPANTLA, a group exhibition taking place October 23–28, 2025, in the Yucatán jungle. For more information, visit https://alratitostudio.com/nepantla.
