Innovation Wall Exhibit

Fri, Oct 10, 2025 10:00 AM – Sun, Oct 26, 2025 5:00 PM

For more than 350 years, Connecticut has been the birthplace of invention. The helicopter, nuclear submarine, the first space suit on the moon, and even the Wiffle Ball were all born and manufactured in Connecticut.

To honor this legacy, the American Manufacturing Hall of Fame (AMHoF) is partnering with AMP to host the Innovation Wall, a 1,500 sq ft interactive display featuring 50 Connecticut Innovation Firsts. This “greatest hits” of Nutmeg State ingenuity includes everything from the first nuclear submarine to the first moon walk, from Sikorsky to Silly Putty, from the WASP engine to Wiffle Balls, from PEZ to parachutes. Visitors can even hold racing bicycle wheels that won 14 medals at the Paris Olympics.

The exhibition is included at no extra charge with regular admission to AMP during open hours.

Exhibit Hours
Fridays and Saturday, 10am – 5pm
Sunday, 12pm – 5pm

The Women, by Kristin Hannah

11/20/2025
6:00-7:00 PM
FREE

In November, our Book Club will read a powerful story of courage, friendship, and the often-forgotten role of women in war. The Women, the latest novel from bestselling author Kristin Hannah, is a sweeping and emotional tale that brings an unforgettable heroine into the literary spotlight.
Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, The Women follows twenty-year-old Frances “Frankie” McGrath, a Southern California nursing student whose life takes an unexpected turn when she hears five words that change everything: Women can be heroes. Raised in a conservative home and taught to follow the rules, Frankie defies expectations by joining the Army Nurse Corps after her brother ships out to Vietnam.
In the heart of a brutal and chaotic war, Frankie finds herself thrust into a world she never imagined—one of bloodshed, camaraderie, heartbreak, and resilience. Through her eyes, readers witness the toll of war and the bonds that form in the most unthinkable circumstances. But Frankie’s journey doesn’t end with the war. Returning to a divided America, she and her fellow veterans face the silent battles of reintegration, grief, and erasure in a society eager to forget.
The Women is more than a war story—it’s a tribute. A tribute to the strength and sacrifice of the women who served, whose stories have too often gone untold. Kristin Hannah delivers a gripping, emotionally resonant novel that celebrates female bravery, deepens our understanding of patriotism, and illuminates a chapter of history that deserves to be remembered.
Join our book club for what will surely be a meaningful conversation.
