New Year’s Solo Recital

Saturday, December 27 at 4pm—Saint James Place, Great Barrington, MA
Sunday, December 28 at 4pm—Trinity Church, Lakeville, CT

Sonatas for solo violin and basso continuo, and Suite in D Minor for harpsichord by the French Baroque composer Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre. She stands out as a unique figure in the history of music, recognized as one of the few prominent female composers of her era. Her distinction goes beyond her gender; she also defied the norms of the time by composing in a broad range of forms and genres. Jacquet de La Guerre’s works will be complemented by Caprices for solo violin by Louis-Gabriel Guillemain.
Edson Scheid (New York), Baroque violin, Christine Gevert, harpsichord.

Book Signing with Emily Gervasio

The Hickory Stick Bookshop welcomes local author Emily Gervasio, who will be here on Saturday, December 13th at 3 pm to sign copies of her new book, “Little Honey Loves Christmas”.

ABOUT THE BOOK

“Little Honey Loves Christmas” is a joyful rhyming picture book that captures the wonder of the holiday season. With playful verses and festive illustrations, this story takes readers through beloved Christmas traditions: baking cookies, trimming the tree, singing carols, exchanging gifts, and snuggling up in cozy pajamas.

From elves making magic overnight to stockings hung with care, “Little Honey Loves Christmas” celebrates the excitement of the season while reminding children and families that the greatest gift of all is love.

Perfect for bedtime during the holidays or as a seasonal read-aloud, this book makes a delightful Christmas gift for toddlers, preschoolers, and early readers. Parents and caregivers will appreciate the gentle reminder that holiday joy is found not only in presents, but in shared moments of warmth, kindness, and family connection.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Emily Gervasio is an educator, author, and advocate whose lifelong passion for literature has shaped both her professional and creative journeys.

With dual master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, and certification as a school administrator, Emily has spent over two decades inspiring students to discover the power of reading and writing. She currently serves as an Assistant Principal at a middle school, where she mentors teachers and supports students in developing a love of learning.

As a mother of three, Emily’s nightly tradition of reading with her children sparked her own journey as an author. Four years ago, she found her niche in writing for toddlers, blending her background in education with her love for storytelling. Her books are known for their playful rhymes, warmth, and ability to capture the joy and innocence of early childhood. To date, she has published five children’s books, with more in development as part of The Little Honey Collection.

Emily also co-created Life is Sweet under her husband’s company, Sole Shine Gear, inspired by their daughter Jamie, who has a significant disability and a tremendous spirit. The line represents her family’s vision of spreading positivity, resilience, and joy through creativity and kindness.

Emily lives in Western Connecticut with her husband and three children. Through her writing and work in education, she continues to inspire young readers and remind families everywhere that life is, indeed, sweet.

This event is free and open to the public. If you are unable to attend, you may reserve signed copies of “Little Honey Loves Christmas” by calling The Hickory Stick Bookshop at (860) 868 0525, or shopping online at www.hickorystickbookshop.com.
