David Newell Book Signing

The Hickory Stick Bookshop welcomes local author David Newell, who will be here on Saturday, September 20th at 3 pm to sign copies of his third book “Meade Hill Road: Sarah Jane: Book 2” a sequel to his first novel, “Sarah Jane”.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Set in Vermont in 1879, “Meade Hill Road: Sarah Jane: Book 2” is a poignant novel that continues the story of a close and loving farm family, which includes an adopted Black boy, as they find a way to continue on after a devastating loss.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David Newell was raised in Woodbury, Connecticut and taught English at Woodbury Middle School. David owned and ran his family hardware and feed store, C. L. Adams, until his retirement. He has been a member of the Region 14 Board of Education, and served as a town selectman.

As a teenager, Newell helped his Aunt Sarah around the house, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, and running errands. When Sarah died, she left the contents of her home to David’s sister and the contents of the cellar to Newell, as that was where his uncle kept his carpentry tools. Also in the cellar was a trunk filled with Sarah’s diaries, the oldest dating back to 1868. The diaries inspired his book “Sarah Jane”.

Newell and his wife live in Woodbury, CT. They have two children and one grandchild.

This event is free and open to the public. If you are unable to attend, you may reserve signed copies of “Meade Hill Road: Sarah Jane: Book 2” by calling The Hickory Stick Bookshop at (860) 868 0525, or shopping online at www.hickorystickbookshop.com.
