Art Talk: Catching Light, 75
The David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village, CT is pleased to present Catching Light, 75, a new exhibition of paintings by Janet Andre Block, a contemporary artist based in New York City and Connecticut. Celebrating a milestone year in the artist’s life and practice, the exhibition features recent paintings including a series of tiny 2×2 inch artworks on magnets. The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, May 23, from 5 to 7 PM and an Art Talk on Thursday, June 4 at 5:30 PM. The exhibition will remain on display through June 19.
In Catching Light, 75, Janet Andre Block continues her long engagement with the shifting presence of light—how it animates objects, alters mood, and reveals meaning in the everyday. Her paintings return to familiar subjects, often singular and deceptively simple in composition—a single building, a single flower or fruit—yet each canvas feels newly discovered, shaped by intuition, curiosity, and a disciplined commitment to the act of looking.
