Julie Cook has been a lifelong lover and writer of poetry from an early age. For many years, her writing was largely private, until the last few years when she began sharing them with family and friends and converting some into lyrics for original choral compositions. Julie believes in the power of poetry to join the poet and reader to their deepest selves. She facilitates classes on poetry, writing and music at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UConn Waterbury. Her first book of poetry, Morning Grace, was published by Orenaug Mountain Publishing in September of this year. Her poems also appear in several of OMP’s anthologies, including Personal Freedom, From Art to Art, and The Nature of Woodbury.
