Lost Fox Inn

Just a mile from the town of Litchfield, on the site of the former Tollgate Hill property, the Lost Fox Inn retains much of its historic charm but the vibe is “old-world chic,” says owner Eliza Clark. With a formal garden, and plenty of privacy, the three-building compound is ideally suited for weddings and family gatherings. There are ten rooms in the main house and an adjacent former schoolhouse sleeps four. The old Tavern Building dates to 1765; here the chef will serve up hearty New England-style fare with a rustic twist in a beautiful atmosphere. Rates from $250 to $600.

The Kent Collection – The Garden Cottages

The three cottages are each unique in size and layout, but they share an eclectic, casual, cozy ambiance. These family friendly and pet friendly residences are perfect for getting away while still feeling connected to everything happening in town.

The Little House

This open studio space is one large room with a king-size bed at one end, and a sleeper sofa and fireplace at the other. Newly constructed in 2022, this charming space has the same footprint, as well as the original fireplace, chimney, floorboards, and beams of the antique house that stood here previously. We tried to save the original house, but it was too far gone.

The Train Car

Climb aboard this 1800s baggage car that’s been fully updated and beautifully transformed into an open studio space. The bright and modern interior includes colorful, plaid fabrics, rustic train memorabilia, and lots of natural wood.

The Bunk House

This early 1900s barn-like structure was originally a bunkhouse for railroad employees. Now fully renovated but still steeped in historic charm, it features original wide plank wood floors, wood walls, and a rustic yet comfortable interior. The cozy sleeping loft has dormers and overlooks the living room.
