Eclectically elegant, yet totally casual. Serving up delicious eats and drinks to Litchfield County and beyond! Cozy up by their fireplaces, get mesmerized by the 3,000 gallon fish tank, or sit in their outdoor dining area made of cord wood. Pizzas, tacos, wings, cheesy dips, cocktails, beers, and more!

The Dutch Epicure Shop

The Dutch Epicure Shop is known region-wide for their European style pastries, breads, cookies and cakes made on the premises, German meats and sausages, Dutch and European cheeses, various fine teas, jams, chocolates from all over Europe, and of course Dutch food and Dutch groceries, this little shop couldn’t be more authentic or wonderful. Also to covet are their ever popular sandwich rolls, Prima Donna aged cheese, ham with rosemary and the bags of spaetzle, and mocha sticks. Their website provides video links showing how some of their culinary creations are made (when was the last time you whipped up a mean zuger kirsch torte?). To satisfy your craving for Dutch food, run, don’t walk, to this extraordinary shop.

Tilden Seafood

Since there aren’t too many seafood markets in the region, make sure to get there early as selections are limited as the day goes on. The clambake bags are fun and include everything you need tied up in a bag for boiling a traditional New England-style clambake. Fresh seafood, special orders and catering. Their meat store is conveniently located next door if you are planning a surf and turf.

West Street Grill

A Litchfield staple—West Street Grill has been credited with revitalizing the Litchfield Green after opening in 1990. Elegant vibe, impressive food and service. A modern restaurant with a cozy but sophisticated dining room, West Street has the charm of a private club but attracts a broad demographic.

Harney & Sons Fine Teas

The reward for completing that bike ride—the most delectable PB&J ever. We don’t know if it’s the jam or excellent bread, but these things are tasty! There’s also something slightly mischievous about having a “kid’s” sandwich in the casually elegant surroundings of a tearoom. Speaking of… you know the name, but did you realize that the quality brand was based here? A food lover’s stop, the Harney & Sons Fine Tea boutique offers all manner of hostess and entertaining gifts, and the expansive tasting bar can answer all your burning leaf questions.

Irving Farm Coffee House

Irving Farm Coffee House is a cozy spot to sit and chat, and has a cup of coffee that will keep you from pining for another. The beans are grown from estates around the world, but weekenders might recognize the aroma of the roasted beans from the java house’s multiple Manhattan locations. Locals love the original as a hub and for baked on premises grub. We’re talking cookies. Big ones.
