Washington, CT – The Gunn Memorial Library’s Stairwell Gallery is proud to present “Here and There” by artist Marisabel Artieda, on view from June 6 through August 15, 2026.

Inspired by both her life in Connecticut and her roots in Peru, Artieda’s work explores themes of memory, nature, belonging, and connection. Her paintings draw from everyday moments in the natural world—from butterflies and autumn leaves to quiet landscapes, capturing the beauty found in both familiar surroundings and cherished memories of home.

Through vibrant color and thoughtful composition, she reflects on the enduring influence of Peru on her artistic practice while also celebrating the landscapes and changing seasons of Connecticut. Nature remains central to her work and serves as a continuing source of inspiration and gratitude.

She has also been an active member of the local arts community and has found artistic growth and friendship through the Washington Art Association, where she paints alongside fellow artists and under the guidance of her mentor, Edward Devoe.

This exhibition is dedicated to her loving husband, Marco, whose unwavering support has sustained her throughout her artistic journey, as well as to her two daughters, whose encouragement continues to inspire her work.

An artist reception will be held on Saturday, July 25 from 12-2pm

The public is invited to view “Here and There” during regular library hours.
