ArtWall Talk — Ann Kraus
Ann Kraus will host an engaging Art Talk on Thursday, May 22, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her inspirations, techniques, and the thought-provoking themes behind her collection. This event is free and open to the public.
Throughout the month of May, The David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village (CT) will host painter Ann Kraus’s captivating art exhibition I Collect Clouds. Kraus’s subject matter of skyscapes explores the intersection of memory, nature, and human emotion, inviting viewers to reflect on the connections between themselves and the environment. Initially captured in sketches or photographs before being painted, her paintings are a perfect metaphor for the evolving and changing environment that she has encountered on her travels around the globe.
The paintings collected for this exhibition capture the essence of feelings evoked by a specific time and place, constantly evolving as they are buffeted by the wind, adding drama and clarity to our world at sunrise and sunset. Kraus says, “I work quickly, many times on two or more pieces at a time. Putting down the rough outlines on the canvas or paper, I move fluidly to maintain the spiritual context of the piece. As I refine the balance and overall design, I choose a palette of colors that reflect my personal interpretation and recollection. While some may be serene, others may be electrifying and chaotic.”
A reception to celebrate the opening of I Collect Clouds will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the library. Guests will have the chance to meet the artist, admire her work up close, and enjoy light refreshments in an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
