WBCMF Chamber Concert
November 17, 2024

WBCMF Chamber Concert

The Haven String Quartet will perform, with piano, on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in the
Woodbury-Bethlehem Community Music Foundation’s 2024-2025 Chamber Concert Series, at
3:00 PM, at First Congregational Church, 214 Main Street South, in Woodbury, CT.
The Haven String Quartet (HSQ) is a unique ensemble deeply rooted in
the New Haven community. Dedicated to both artistic excellence and
music education, the HSQ balances a rigorous performance schedule with
a full teaching load, performing over 25 times a year throughout New
England in addition to running an award-winning and nationally
recognized afterschool music program. Members devote their mornings to
quartet rehearsals and their afternoons to mentoring young musicians,
where they foster strong relationships with students and their
families year over year.

The Haven String Quartet is composed of Yaira Matyakubova and Patrick Doane, on violin,
Linda Numagami, on viola, Philip Boulanger, on cello, and Jacob Wang, on piano. Newcomer to
the group, Jacob Wang studied at the University of Michigan under Arthur Greene. He
previously studied at UNC School of the Arts with Dmitri Vorobiev and Eric Larsen. Wang has
appeared as concerto soloist with several orchestras throughout Michigan, North Carolina and
Iowa. After receiving multiple Career Development Grants and Excel Enterprise grants for
various projects, Wang presented solo, duo, and chamber recitals in Michigan, North Carolina,
Maine, New York, Perugia (Italy), and throughout Germany, while on tour. He joined Music
Haven and the Haven String Quartet in 2024. The repertoire for this performance will include
Luis Gustavo Prado’s “Suite de Canto y Danza en forma de Variaciones” for string quartet, as
well as Antonin Dvorak’s Piano Quintet No. 2, op. 81.

The WBCMF is very pleased to welcome Haven String Quartet to Woodbury. Future
