Zarifa Adiba Author Talk

On Saturday, March 22nd at 1 pm the David M. Hunt Library, in partnership with Music Mountain, will host Zarifa Adiba, a violist from Kabul, Afghanistan and author of the memoir “Playing for Freedom”. Zarifa is one of the first two female conductors in Afghanistan and has conducted the Zohra Orchestra, Afghanistan’s first and only all female orchestra. Zarifa will speak about her experience of growing up in Afghanistan, finding opportunities to nurture her love of music in a culture that sees it as “sinful” and her work as an activist for girls and education. Zarifa will also share a recording of new music with the audience. This event is free and open to the public.
