Thursday Water Aerobics
Join Cindy LaPlaca for a light-hearted, low-impact class that is performed in shallow water and is designed to improve joint stability, coordination, heart health, and strength. Begin with an aerobic warm-up, increasing in intensity. Progress with optional handheld Styrofoam weights or noodles that can be used to create more targeted muscle conditioning or effective core work. The class concludes with a relaxing cool-down and stretch with open swim time.
Aquatic aerobic classes are great for swimmers and non-swimmers alike, your head is not submerged and your feet stay on the floor, unless a flotation device is used. Some of the benefits of the workout include the resistance of the water against the body, it’s easily modified for all levels of fitness; it is easy on the joints. And a refreshing dip during your workout!
