Picnic For Pride At The New Milford Town Green
June 10, 2023

Picnic For Pride At The New Milford Town Green

Join in the fun at Picnic for Pride to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community! This is a family friendly picnic where people are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunch to the Town Green. There will be music, games run by the New Milford Youth Agency, a photo booth, a community art piece, LGBTQIA+ crafters and artisans, and social service organizations that focus on helping and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community.

Shop local during the event and get a discount at participating businesses on The Green and Bank Street. This is a wonderful opportunity to buy food for your picnic or to shop at any of the businesses celebrating Pride month. Visit New Milford Pride’s booth at the event for details.

Elora Herberick, who owns EVOLVE Yoga Wellness Nutrition in New Milford, will be repainting the rainbow crosswalk above Bank Street as she has in past years, along side The Hive: a local spiritual community. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to participate. Please email [email protected] to volunteer.

Kateland Kelly, The Write Assistant, will also be hosting a visibility event in which painted stones will be hidden throughout the Green for participants to find and keep. Each stone is emblazoned with the Progress Flag and her original poem “The Queerdo Manifesto” celebrating what it means to be authentically you.

The event will happen on Saturday June 10th from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the New Milford Town Green at 25 Main Street, New Milford, CT. This event is open to the general public and free to attend.

If you are interested in volunteering for the event or are an LGBTQIA+ artist that would like to complete our vendor application, please email us at [email protected].

Pride is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community during the month of June and was originally started to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall uprising in NYC. It has since spread nationwide to promote equality, social justice, and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Members of New Milford Pride seek to improve the quality of life for people of the LGBTQIA+ community by developing communication avenues, organizing local events, and inspiring all people to accept the diversity that makes our community great.
