One Hit Wonder
Landmark Community Theatre presents the new jukebox musical, “ONE HIT WONDER,” opening Saturday, February 1st! Join LCT as it presents the first production of the 2020 season, “One Hit Wonder,” running February 1 st through February 16 th at the Thomaston Opera House.
Written by award-winning musical theatre bookwriter, Jeremy Desmon, “One Hit Wonder” is a fun pop/rock musical about music, love, and second chances. Following a fifteen-year-old Battle of the Bands victory in which Rick and his ex-girlfriend, Ashley, debuted their original song “One Hit Wonder,” Rick still dreams of becoming a rock n’ roll God. All of this seems a distant memory, as he is now an aging dive bar singer and Ashley, a high-powered executive living in the big city with an adorably square boyfriend. Everything changes when a video of their performance re-emerges and mega-pop songstress Mercy Faith invites them to open for her world tour.
Set to a soundtrack of nostalgic one hit wonders including “Tainted Love,” “Walking On Sunshine,” “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” ”Take On Me,” and many more “One Hit Wonder” is a bright and captivating showcase of the popular tunes of the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.
Under the direction of Kate Luurtsema and music direction of Jim Luurtsema, “One Hit Wonder” stars local Connecticut community theatre favorites Ashley McLeod (Ashley), Joe Guttadauro (Stewart), Steffon Sampson (Gunner), Cheyenne Walent (Fiona), and introducing Joe Berthiaume (Rick) and Kristi Yurko (Mercy Faith) in their Landmark Community Theatre debuts.
Now showing February 1, 7, 8, 14, 15 at 8pm and February 2, 9, 16 at 2pm.
