The Cornwall Library is honored to present authors Susanna Moore and Robert Becker in a talk entitled “The History of Lahaina on Maui,” a conversation about the historic town of Lahaina that was destroyed by wildfires in August. Moore, the Hawaii-raised novelist, memoirist and historian, joins Becker the author, historian of Hawaii and descendant of Hawaii missionaries, to discuss the complex layers of culture and history that Lahaina represented and embodied prior to being leveled by the fires.

Through readings and a discussion, followed by Q & A, Moore and Becker will also talk about the efforts to recover and rebuild Lahaina. The speakers suggest that any donations made as a result of this talk go directly to the Maui Strong fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation.
