LCOTF Empathy Conference
The Litchfield County Opiate Task Force Presents:
Reimagining Empathy: A Decade of Unity and Resilience
Explore the vital role empathy plays in treating substance abuse and addiction, fostering wellness, and creating hope within communities. Featuring internationally renowned addiction and trauma experts, Johann Hari and Dr. Gabor Maté, as well as community leaders and individuals directly impacted by the crisis, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about speaking with loved ones about their addiction, harm reduction tactics, and the role of human empathy in this crisis.
Schedule:
Registration begins at 8:00 AM, with the opening session beginning at 9:00 AM.
Keynote Speaker Johann Hari will present, followed by a fireside chat and a booksigning opportunity.
Between the hours of 11:30AM and 2:00PM, attendees will have the opportunity to leave the theatre for lunch, attend Johann Hari’s Book signing and/or attend breakout sessions that include the following subjects:
Live Saving Measures: Narcan & Hands-Only CPR
Mindfulness and Sound Healing
Compassionate policing through Deflection
Talking to a Loved One About Their Addiction
Each session will be instructed twice, once at 11:45AM and then again at 12:45PM. This gives attendees the opportunity to attend 2 of the 5 sessions if they choose. Seating in the classrooms is very limited, so please arrive to your desired breakouts early.
Back on the main stage, attendees will reconvene for a panel discussion on Harm Reduction as Empathy in Action.
Dr. Gabor Mate will join us to close out the day with a live, virtual presentation and Q&A opportunity.
