A free Hawk Watch event will be held at Topsmead State Forest on October 7, 2023 from 9:00-
11:00 am. This event, initiated by the Friends of Topsmead State Forest (FTSF), is presented in
collaboration with the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society (LHAS) and the Housatonic Valley
Association (HVA).

The program will provide an opportunity for members and guests to gather to share in this
hawk migration experience. Participants will gather at the Welcome Center at Topsmead for
the guided hawk watch which will take place in the nearby Topsmead meadow. Ann Orsillo, an
avid bird watcher from the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society, will introduce and guide the hawk
watch.

Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, binoculars and water. The hawk watch will
be followed by refreshments and a brief talk by Colleen Stradtman, President of the Friends of
Topsmead State Forest. She will speak about the mission of the Friends of Topsmead and
future plans.
