Artist and longtime Washington resident, Frank Habbas is presenting his first solo exhibition at the Five Points Annex Gallery in Torrington from Feb 3rd to Feb 11th.

Entitled EVOLVING: A COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS BY FRANK HABBAS, the exhibition will showcase the range of styles with which the artist has experimented over time. Spanning his early, realistic works reflective of his background as a comp illustrator to more recent paintings that embody a dreamlike quality, the exhibition represents the evolution of the artist’s subjects, style, and viewpoint.

“My work has always been based on people and how they evolve. Our intellect and our physical being are constantly changing and growing. As I continue to paint, I find myself wanting to go deeper, to find something beneath the surface,” says Habbas.

About Frank Habbas
A native New Yorker, Frank Habbas began his artistic career at the School of Visual Arts and Cooper Union in Manhattan. Initially, Habbas focused on illustration and graphic design, where he achieved commercial success creating storyboards and designing print advertising from his studio in Tudor City. His client list included Reader’s Digest, Parade Magazine, The International Herald Tribune, BBD&O, and Simon & Schuster, among others. Soon afterward, he turned exclusively to painting. With a particular focus on the human form, Habbas has produced a sizable body of work in traditional oil painting. His work has attracted a broad spectrum of clients from publishers and institutions to private collectors. Now, age 91, the artist lives with his wife, Ginny, in Washington, Connecticut.
