Books & Blooms
This year marks the tenth anniversary of Books & Blooms, the two-day celebratory garden-related event and benefit for the Cornwall Library in Cornwall, Connecticut, that is one of the most popular events on the Cornwall calendar.
On the first day, Friday June 20th, at 5:30 pm, come to hear Dee Salomon, who will speak on “What Makes a Garden a Garden?” at Cornwall Town Hall. She is the “Ungardener” columnist at the Lakeville Journal who writes, advocates and consults on native habitat restoration in the face of invasive species.
Following the presentation, there is an outdoor cocktail reception at the adjacent Cornwall Library, featuring live music by the Crownback Funk Trio. This group blends funk, blues and jazz to create spontaneous, dynamic soundscapes with every performance.
The next day, Saturday June 21, from 10am to 4pm, you can explore four delightful private Cornwall gardens, two of them new to the tour. At the library you can view Ellen Moon’s new exhibit of Cornwall gardens, called Thinking About Gardens. There is also a sale of out-of-print garden books.
Tickets cost $40 for the talk and cocktail reception, $30 for the garden tours, or $65 for both. Purchase on our website, or by visiting or calling the Library.
