Amanda Johnson: Figures

Please join KMR Arts Saturday, July 11, from 3-5:30pm for an opening reception with the artist for Amanda Johnson: Figures
2 Titus Road, Washington Depot, Ct., 06794.

Amanda Johnson is a painter whose work centers on the contemporary female figure – direct, self possessed, and unapologetically present. Working fluidly between drawing and painting, she builds her images through gesture, ink, and layered washes, allowing spontaneity and control to coexist. Her figures emerge with a distinct psychological presence, capturing moments that feel both intimate and enduring. Her work reflects a sustained commitment to honoring the complexity of women – strength, vulnerability, and individuality – rendered with a confident, modern hand.

Originally from Baltimore, and based in Delray Beach, Florida, Johnson is the co-founder of Amanda James Gallery, where her practice expands beyond the canvas into textiles and wearable art.

This is Amanda Johnson’s first solo show with KMR Arts.
Gallery owner, Kathy McCarver says, “Amanda’s paintings are filled with bold exuberance. Delicacy and strength coexist communicated through a color sense directly from the palettes of Matisse and Chagall. The moment I saw the work, I knew I wanted to own one!!”

KMR Arts is proud to be part of the Titus Road Design Collective – a group of like-minded shops and galleries celebrating fashion, design, and art, all nestled along one charming stretch in Washington Depot, CT.

Join us, as we be host in-store specials and events continuing our Second Saturdays series! Spend the day strolling, sipping, and shopping through George Home, Pasquale et Maurice, Eckert Fine Art, KMR Arts, and Pinnacle – a perfect way to experience some of Washington Depot’s retail stores.
