Cocktails & Conversations: Caribbean Indigenous Resistance / Resistencia indígena del Caribe ¡Taíno Vive!

Time: 5:30–7 PM
Price: Adult $15 | Sober Adult $10 | Member Adult $10

Join Michelle Bangash, Valerie Vargas and Kasike Atunwa Jorge Baracutay Estevez from Higuayagua Taíno of the Caribbean to discuss modern day issues in the Taíno world. This discussion will explore the reconstruction and revitalization of the Taíno language, the role of modern day woman’s tribal roles in their yukayeke, as well as the quest for adding the teaching of the Taíno perspective of conquest and encounter in the Caribbean. This newer perspective will enrich the audience and produce a more complete teaching of the history of the Americas.
