Plein Air Litchfield

“Connecticut’s Historic Gardens Day is an annual statewide event where 16 historic gardens open their doors to celebrate Connecticut’s botanical and cultural heritage. Held on the last Sunday in June, participating locations host special activities ranging from garden tours and live music to plein-air painting and living history presentations.” –Connecticut Landmarks.
Created in 1915 by Eliza and Caroline Ferriday, the historic garden at Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden is a formal parterre inspired by French design. Blooming with heirloom roses, peonies, and lilacs, the garden reflects generations of care. On Sunday, June 28th, as members of Connecticut Historic Gardens, we will be welcoming the public to enjoy and experience the gardens. This year, we are excited to welcome Plein Air Painters to join us that day as well.

The grounds of Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden will be open from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Come, stroll the grounds, meet the painters, enjoy the art.

At 4:00 on Sunday, there will be a pop-up art show of the paintings made by the artists who have been painting at Bellamy-Ferriday House all four Sundays this June.

The works of art will be on display in the kitchen and on the porch of the Bellamy-Ferriday House.
Refreshments will be served.
