The library will be showing a 5 star moving tribute to enduring devotion, courage, and remembrance. The Great Escaper tells the remarkable true story of Bernard Jordan, who captured international attention in the summer of 2014 when he slipped away from his care home to travel to Normandy. Determined to honor his fallen comrades, the veteran joined fellow servicemen on the beaches where the D-Day landings took place, marking the 70th anniversary of the historic operation.

Starring Michael Caine and the late two-time Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson as Bernard and his wife, Renee, the film weaves together Bernie’s emotional 48-hour journey with Rene’s memories of their youth and the love they found during World War II.
