Jazz in the Garden
Join us on August 26th for a performance by the Southern Connecticut State University Latin Jazz Ensemble, led by Dr. David Chevan of the SCSU Music Department. In addition to his work as a bass player, Chevan believes in jazz education in all its shapes, sizes, methods, processes, and encounters. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation.
The SCSU Latin Jazz Ensemble explores the repertoire of jazz and improvised music from the Spanish and Portuguese speaking cultures of the Caribbean and South America. Expect a concert with classic pieces from Cuba, Brazil, Puerto Rico and other parts of the region. These students work hard to learn these traditional rhythms and melodies, and their concerts are filled with moments that inspire the audience to get up and dance!
Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and refreshments, and enjoy a wonderful evening with us in the Hotchkiss-Fyler garden. Tickets can be purchased in advance on Eventbrite or at the door. Ticket prices are:
$15 for Torrington Historical Society members
$18 for non-members
$10 for students (please bring your student ID).
This event is sponsored by Torrington Savings Bank and Northwest Community Bank.
