First and foremost, I am a storyteller.
My creative world is both influenced and defined by the stories, both real and fictional, that make up daily life. As a result, I am able to step through the looking glass and see things from multiple angles, and capture the most curious of those perspectives in my work. I have found that an abandoned building still retains the echoes of the lives played out within its walls, that a well-loved object has the same muscle memory of a pianist’s hands, and that it is the story behind a subject that inspires me.
Portraiture has been an especially unique opportunity for me to capture the stories of my subjects. I combine fictional and actual narratives to create imagery that can communicate who those subjects are, and the moments in their lives that have defined them. These images are an unexpected but timeless way to celebrate and preserve memories and the emotions that accompany them.
My experience as a professional photographer for over twenty-five years has afforded me access to a variety of settings from documentary shoots in Mongolia, to exhibiting my work at Art Basel Miami. My passion has deepened throughout the years as a form of both professional and personal artistic expression and I have learned to appreciate the value of subject matter beyond superficial aesthetics. It is my mission to bring a singular perspective of the complex layers of the human experience to the foreground.
