The Ladies of Topsmead: An Online Presentation by Jerry Geci

Online Event Location:  Details sent when you RSVP

If you’re interested in Topsmead, you’ll certainly be curious to know more about the three ladies who spent decades there together. This online presentation will show and tell where these ladies came from, what they were like individually, and how they spent time together at Miss Edith’s picturesque estate. Edith Morton Chase, Mary Francis Burrall, and Lucy Beach Burrall made a close and enduring trio. Join the Friends of Topsmead State Forest on March 1 to learn all about the three close-knit ladies of Topsmead.

About Jerry Geci

In 1998 upon retiring from teaching English at Litchfield High School, Jerry’s wife Bette suggested he take a job as a house tour guide at Topsmead. In a nod to his wife’s excellent recommendation, Jerry began giving tours and then conducting interviews with relatives and former staff members of Miss Chase. As an archivist, Jerry collected important information about the inner workings of Topsmead, which naturally led to his giving annual lectures about Miss Chase and her beloved property. Outside and away from Topsmead, Jerry is an avid gardener as well as chairman of Litchfield’s SMART (Save Money and Reduce Trash) Task Force which recently established composting bins at Litchfield’s Recycling Center.
