During the mid-twentieth century when illustrators Eric Sloane and Norman Rockwell were in the heydays of their careers, print media—including books, magazines, and newspapers— attracted millions of readers and were our primary form of information, entertainment, and communication. Explore the simultaneous illustration careers of these noted visual commentators who achieved celebrity in their time, from their days of study at New York’s Art Students League to the published imagery that established their exceptional reputations for the American public. Vibrant imagery spanning the breadth of their careers and the projects and assignments that they held in common will be explored.
