Beavers! Nature’s Engineers

The Friends of Topsmead State Forest in Litchfield, Connecticut present a Zoom presentation on beavers on 9/28/2020 from 6:30-8p.m.

Wonder why Beavers are called “eager” or why they gnaw saplings—even large trees—to build their dams and lodges? In this talk, DEEP Master Wildlife Conservationist Ginny Apple will discuss this keystone species, Beaver biology, behavior and history and describe the unique role of nature’s engineers in shaping North American landscapes as well as explain how Beaver ponds and wetlands can help us fight environmental problems from water pollution to erosion and climate change.

Ginny Apple, a Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Wildlife Master Conservationist, will deliver the presentation.

There is no cost for attending, however, an R.S.V.P. is required.

Those interested in attending can get more information and R.S.V.P. at: https://www.friendsoftopsmead.org/events.html
